As a birthday present, a friend gave me the bullet he contemplated using on himself this past Sunday. I had only just found out about his plans the day after he decided against it.
This was a startling reminder of the reality one sees with depression and suicide. At that point, I realized that four people I know have attempted to end their lives in the past few years.
The Empty Chamber: A Project For Living
This project began as a way of showing community and solidarity, for the survivors, contemplators, and the affected.
You are not alone. You are very loved. You are amazing.
The posts will feature photos and items once intended for the planning/attempted suicides, along with the telling of stories. Items like: a bullet; a photo of the gun, intersection, building, bridge, body of water; a pill bottle; a rope; razor blades, etc. These are universal and powerful symbols.
